A Personal Reflection: My Fond Recollections of Meeting Monica
A home filled with warmth, love, and laughter with music always playing. I was introduced to the fantastic beats of Zydeco, New Orleans jazz with a little Dr. John thrown in. Monica always had her piano and guitar at the ready should an occasion arise to play. Her love of music—both playing and listening—was most certainly passed on to her boys, Max and Ford.
I can honestly say there was never an occasion where music was not part of the gathering—be it mid-week card games, the famous Sunday BBQs, or the wonderful Cajun-inspired dishes served with love. I remember a visit from her mother, JuJu as we knew her, and a musician friend, where we were treated to pretty much an all-day party of wonderful Cajun music, dance lessons, and fantastic food.
Her love and passion for her family, her home, and her music were an inspiration. Her stories about New Orleans music culture and her love of the piano were cherished by her family and all who had the privilege to know her. She would be so proud of this endeavor for her and the memory of Max.
Please consider sharing in the love of music that Monica and Max had, and consider donating to this worthy cause. We love you, Mo and Max.
